Review of the Christian Dior Small Book Tote Bag
There's a place for the Christian Dior Small Book Tote in my modest yet powerful handbag collection. When it was first released in the United States in early March, I got this from my incredible SA at the Wynn boutique in Las Vegas, and I've been fascinated with it ever since.
I bought this mostly so that I could use it as a personal bag for vacation and even for shopping when I knew I would be making a lot of minor purchases. Although a larger size is offered, I thought the small size would be ideal for me because it essentially matches my way of life. Since I seldom carry more than I need—my keys, credit card holder, lip balm, phone, and either sunglasses or eyeglasses—I normally buy compact bags. I always travel with a big toiletry bag that can fit tissues, wipes, lotion, hand sanitizer, and anything else I think I'll need. This forces me to consider what I really need to bring and encourages me to travel light.
First and foremost, the canvas design is crucial! It is truly unique for someone who values details because of the toile de jouy canvas. I knew this was the right design for me even though there were many other possibilities.
Though it may be folded at the base to make it flat if desired, this tote's structure makes it extremely structured. I would never wear it over-the-shoulder since the handles are too short to be worn that way. Instead, I wear it on the crook of my arm or with one hand. The interior of the bag is entirely empty, which I understand is a feature that not everyone may find appealing. This doesn't bother me too much because I recently purchased a bag organizer from Samorga in the color "Dark Navy" that I can simply take out and put back into my book tote. If, like me, you like your purses to have a zipper, this one does too. It features a ton of pockets inside and a detachable zipper top.
One thing to keep in mind about this particular kind of bag is that there might be some loose threads. This seems like it might get worse with continued use and if I don't take extra caution while banging my backpack into objects. The handles' potential yellowing is another thing that worries me. Because this bag is off-white and navy in hue, the handles may get darker with each use.
If you're searching for a new travel, work, or everyday bag, I wholeheartedly recommend the Christian Dior tiny book tote despite some of my reservations. Note that not everyone is a good fit for this bag. Before I bought this bag, I made sure it was something I would use by doing a lot of research. Generally speaking, I only buy bags that I know I'll use regularly. We're not going anywhere just yet, but when I can utilize my paid time off to travel, I'll know I've paid for it!
